I'm on a roll baby...watch out! Thank you to my loyal readers Rita and Emily. I will continue to write...just for you two. Aren't you so excited that you might pee your pants? just a little? no? alright moving on.
So when Jack was 4 we tried soccer. This picture pretty much sums up his soccer experience.
Then we tried t-ball at the ripe old age of 5. There was potential in t-ball except for the fact that they never practiced so the kids had no idea what they were doing. Plus Jack is left handed and the coach kept trying to make him bat right handed so I spent the majority of the games yelling "he's a lefty, Coach...a LEFTY!"
Then came Tae Kwon Do. It has been a real transformation for Jack. He has never taken criticism very well. He's a people pleaser like his momma, so when he thinks he's not doing something right the meltdown would commence. Well, TKD has really changed all of that. He has learned to take criticism in order to better his form. He's always been a great listener, but now he really takes the time to listen to what he is being told, process the information and then act on it. Not to mention the incredible exercise that he is getting and the discipline it's teaching him.....just incredible!
He has his eye on the prize (black belt) so we are in this for the long haul. Last Friday he tested for and received his yelllow belt. I couldn't be more proud!
Check out that roundhouse kick!
My kid can kick some ass!

This post is so perfect for me right now. Bonham is 3 1/2 and we are trying to decide if it is the right time to start sports or not. I think I might wait 6 more months...
I am so excited to be NAMED as one of your loyal readers.
However, am I still loyal if I JUST NOW read it?
Hmmm. I'll do better. I swear I will.
I am so glad you commented today and that it brought me back to this post. Your son sounds a lot like mine and I've been thinking that TKD might be a better activity to try verses soccer it tball. I just think he'd respond better to it. I know you are in okc...if you don't mind...will u email me the name of the studio you go to? I need to get on the ball and find a place to sign him up! I was talking to Susan (Friday playdate) the other day and she too is looking for a good studio. I will share your recommendation with her as well.
